Dr. Víctor M. Chapela Castañares
He holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, a master's degree from the Physics Departament New Mexico State University, and in 1979 he earned a doctor's degree from the Chemical Engineering and Chemical Technology Department of The Imperial College of Science and Technology, London University, whose thesis was Crystallization and Intercalation Behavior of Layer Dichalcogenides.
Along with Professor Judith Percino, he registered four national patents and one in Europe, the United States and Mexico, authored more than 60 articles that exerted a wide influence in the development of his field of study. This earned him one of the most respected and consulted scientists in BUAP, as well as leading important research projects, was part of the strategic decisions of management in science.
He was one of the key figures to realize the LNS, the most important supercomputer in Mexico today installed in BUAP, the institution that sheltered it in the last years of its life, those of greater scientific production that made it a reference in Puebla and the region.
